Sandakphu Trek
andakphu or Sandakfu or Sandakpur (3636 m; 11,941 ft) is the highest peak in the state of West Bengal, India. It is the highest point of the Singalila Ridge in Darjeeling district on the West Bengal-Nepal border. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hostels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. From Sandakphu the best view of the mountain Kangchenjunga is possible, which is known as the Sleeping Buddha or the Sleeping Shiva.

Day 1 : Arrival & transfer to Tumling
Pick up from Siliguri & transfer to Dhotrey via Mirik , Pashupati & Manebhanjan ( 85 km , 3 ½ hrs. of drive approx. ).
After briefing about ongoing tour, trek starts for Tumling – it is situated at an altitude of 9600 ft.( 6 km , 2 hrs of trek ).
Overnight stay at Tumling.
Day 2 : Trek to Kalapokhari
After breakfast trek continues , proceed for Kalapokhari from Tumbling ( 14 km , 4 ½ hrs. of trek ). Kalipokhari (13km. 1 hr. drive approx. 10400ft). Via Gairibas (7 km, 8600 ft.).
The Kalipokhri Lake is another major attraction of the region. It has dark waters which are considered sacred by the local people.It is believed that Nepalese worship this sacred lake & no one is allowed to take a dip or swim here.
Overnight stay at Kalapokhari.
Day 3 : Trek to Sandakphu
Trek continues , after breakfast proceed for Sandakphu ( 6 km , 2 ½ hrs. of trek ).
Sandakphu is a wonderland for the trekkers. It’s located at an altitude of 11,929ft (i.e. 3,636 meters). This is highest peak in the state of West Bengal, India. The trek to Sandakphu goes all along the Singalila range.
Overnight stay at Sandakphu.
Day 4 : Trek to Srikhola
Trek continues, proceed for Srikhola via Gurdum , ( 14 km from Sandakphu ).
Overnight stay at Srikhola.
Day 5 : Proceed to Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station
Next one has to drive to Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station from Srikhola (130 km , 5 hrs. of journey approx.)
