DAY 1: Arrival in Ladakh , Transfer to Hotel & Acclimatize

Take an early mornig flight to Ladakh. This must be one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day from the left of the aircraft one can see in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif.  From the other side of the aircraft you can see the high altitude lakes of Tso Moriri and Tso Kar.

Upon arrival you will be met by our representative & transferred to the hotel. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize since you have gone from a relatively low elevation in New Delhi to over 11,000 feet!

Overnight stay at your hotel.

DAY 2: IN LEH - Acclimatization & Local Sightseeing

The morning is at leisure to acclimatize to the rarefied air.  You may choose to stroll along the main bazaar — observing the varied crowds. Looking into curio shops is an engaging experience. A particularly attractive sight is the line of women from nearby villages sitting along the edge of the footpath with baskets of fresh vegetables brought for sale. Behind the main bazaar, Chang Gali is less bustling but has interesting little shops selling curios and jewellery. Further on are the labyrinthine alleyways and piled-up houses of the old town, clustering around the foot of the Palace Hill. In the other direction, down the bazaar, are the Tibetan markets where one can bargain for pearls, turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli and many other kinds of semi-precious stones and jewelry, as well as carved yak-horn boxes, quaint brass locks, china or metal bowls, or any of a whole array of curios.

Also walk to the Leh Palace and Sankar Gompa, which belongs to Gelukspa school of Tibetan Buddhism.  This small Gompa is a branch of Spituk Gompa, founded by the first incarnation of Skyabje Bakula (head monk of Spituk monastery).

Return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Today after the breakfast  you are transferred to Zingchan by road and  trek into the interiors of Snow Leopard country to Rumbak in eager anticipation of the days to come and thoughts on the success in the purpose of your visit – your quest to spot the Snow Leopard.

Overnight stay in a tented camp.

DAYS 4-7: IN RUMBAK VALLEY - explore the area with expert team for the Snow Leopard.

You spend the next 4 days in exploring the area on foot with your guide to try and spot the Snow Leopard. In the process there will also be plenty of opportunity for you to get enthralling insights into local folklore, as well as learn about their customs and traditions.

The very name evokes all that is most wild, mysterious and elusive in nature — for this is an animal that comes cloaked not just in the subtle beauty of its own coat but also in all the high drama of the harsh and magnificent environment that it dominates.

The diverse and rare assemblage of fauna includes the blue sheep or bharal, the staple of snow leopard diet, ibex, kiang or wild ass, long-tailed and Himalayan marmots, Tibetan hare, the pika or mouse hare, wolf, wild dog and fox. The skies are patrolled by golden eagle, bearded vultures, hobbys and kestrels while on sunny hill-slopes plump Tibetan and Himalayan snow cocks and chukor partridge feed warily.

Overnight stay in tented camp.

Today you trek back to Zingchan and drive onward to Leh for an overnight stay at your hotel.

Your will be transferred in time to the airport for your flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Overnight stay at your hotel.
